I just wanted to write in and say how I fixed this in case anyone else has the same problem. At the end of the gnome-power-manager merge, there was a note about requiring pam_console to lock the screen. I just rebuild pam with USE="pam_console" and it worked fine. -- gentoo-user@gentoo.org mai
