Have you checked /etc/host.conf and /etc/nsswitch.conf?
Try a local name server and check the logs for the requests
from your host.

Did you try any other ns? like 194.25.0.68 or 194.25.0.60. Both "Deutsche
Telekom" (german telecom).

For some reason the resolver is not working. I can ping the world by IP address
but not name. I have a valid DNS server in resolve.conf and my other systems on
the same network are working fine so it is not a firewall issue.
Any Help would be appreciated.
