Nice... I had come up with an even more shotgun approache.
grep -r tg3
I didn't have enough sense to know it would be in Makefiles

a generic way is:
1) Go to /usr/src/linux
2) grep tg3 $(find -name Makefile)
of course you can replace tg3 with every other module name (but don't
add the .ko extension!)
