I'm a bit late updating a Lenovo laptop. Emerge wouldn't run due to a conflict with virtual/libcrypt. As a workaround, I ran... time emerge --changed-use --deep --update @world --exclude virtual/libcrypt To quote Rowan and Martin "Later... that very same evening" (7 hours and 265 packages)
