Hi Drew! I think I had a similar problem with my ATI card. I did not solve the problem, because I am using another (nvidia) card now. But I'll forward you what someone replied to me, maybe this will help you. BTW, the unmerging and re-merging of genotoo-sources described below is not necessary.
