this is kind of a security question. Is there a way to make sure if a
machine is running a particular kernel? Say is it possible to md5sum the
kernel image in the memory and compare it to the kernel image on hard drive?

I am trying "Diskless install using PXE boot" in
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/altinstall.xml#doc_chap5.
Things installed fine. When I reboot client machine, I gets its ip from
dhcp and then I see the grub menu. I have two problems;
1- If I leave the timeout elapse in the grub menu then
