Hi All,
When I previously posted and got the response below, it may as well
have been hieroglyphics because I had no idea what Bob was talking
about. However, when I went back to square one and got to the point
of compiling the kernel, I still used g

Hi All,
First, I'm going to comment on some of the things that have been
discussed in the "Gentoo Badges" thread. My opinion - Linux is not
rocket science, there's just a bit of a learning curve to it. I know
what I'm talking about because my comput

Hey,
I don't believe I can actually answer this one. I'm a "noob" to Gentoo!

Hello all,
This will be a bit lengthy and I apologize for that, but I don't know
exactly where I went wrong, so am providing all details.
First, I am new to Gentoo, but not new to Linux. I have installed
source tarballs on other distributions (mostly Redhat and Fedora), but
have never configured

Hi all,
Well, I did make a typo in by grub.conf file - I had .gentoo-rc6
instead of r6. This, of course, resulted in my still not being able
to boot when I fixed the kernel name.

Hi,
Thanks all for noticing the "typo". However, this was a typo in the
e-mail, not in the boot.conf file. :-)

Hi All,
After getting side-tracked by a power outage in the middle of a Gentoo
install a couple of weeks ago, I finally got back to doing a Gentoo
install trial run.
All seemed to go well. When I rebooted I got the menu with the two
selections listed (Gentoo and DOS). The computer will boot int

Hello All,
Yesterday, I started my first attempt at installing Gentoo. This was a
practice run on a test computer prior to installing on my regular computer.
I let the kernel build run overnight and consequently was not able to
finish the install before going to work today. Everything was fine.
