taking your hdd(s) and putting them in another machine and copying them on
the working hdd. This assuming you have a free machine capable of handling
your bad hdd.

Anyone got any thoughts on how I should go about removing my old settings to
start from scratch (except creating a new user)?

t, I don't see why you could not NFS
share the folder on one computer and that would save you enough HDD space for
some extra pr0n. :)
