take this one down for several days to recompile everything. Now I am
stuck trying to emerge sendmail. I cannot emerge 8.15.2 nor 8.14.9.

You could utilise package.provided to make portage assume the headers
are installed. e.g:
/etc/portage/profile/package.provided/sys-kernel/linux-headers:
sys-kernel/linux-headers-5.3
With that portage will assume that the kernel headers for

This very much depends on what pressing the power button does. If acpi takes
