Do not run your jobs on seychelles. Most nodes are still CentOS4 and I
think a lot of the tools are simply not going to run on CentOS4 anymore.
Run them on launchpad and if you still get errors then we need to investigate.

I am assuming you are on a OSX box which has that stupid protection.
Just open a Terminal and run
cat > $FREESURFER_HOME/.license
then type in the 3 lines and Enter and then do a Control-D to exit

. Can also try running
within a CentOS6 or earlier docker container.

you can write to it as the normal login user using the chown & chmod commands.
Then 'exit' to get out of the sudo shell.

What is the exact tar command line you used? It is a gzipped archive
so you have to give tar the 'z' option to uncompress it.

Sorry, ignore my response. I see from the output gzip was getting
called. So I can only concluded you got a corrupted copy on your
download. YOu should erase it and try downloading again.

still need to install a X11 video driver? Or is it a different problem?

Looks like the current ones are 7.5. SO if the 7.2 ones work, then
something was introduced since then.

What is in those libraries - where did they come from? Perhaps this is the
approach I need to use - leave the standard distro GL libraries in place, and
put the Nvidia libraries into another location for use only by vnc.
Thanks,

2GB sounds like you reaching maybe a file size limit of your operating
system if it is really old. Or if you have are trying to download to a
FAT formated external USB drive or such.
