I think the centos4 freesurfer distribution should work for on rhel.
Also be sure to check if you have an x86_64 system, as we have 32bit
(centos4) and 64bit (centos4_x86_64) distributions.

with respect to Red Hat Linux Enterprise, I concluded that
FreeSurfer runs also on Red Hat L
