Hi all,
I'm supporting an old FoxPro/DOS app, which is running on a USB-Stick.
The customer now has bought new sticks, which are 16Gb and
Rufus insists of formatting them with FAT32.
Is there a ChkDsk or ScanDsk etc available for FAT32?
The usual chkdsk92.exe doesn't support this.
Thanks for a

Hi Michał,
Maybe it get's confused from different DOS versions, like that Command.com
files. You start with a Freedos command.com, but then load a Microsoft
command.com subsequently. Therefor first you should change those DOS file
locations to the correct Freedos ones. (that's that Display, coun
Hi all,
(this will get a longer story, sorry) I inherited a FoxPro/DOS application,
which is in use in about 120 delivery trucks. They have a HP 1510 Thinclient
with monitor, USB-keyboard and LPT-printer strapped on the passenger seat,
powered by a 12V to 230V inverter.
The app itself was fir
Hi Eric,
Thanks for your reply! Yes, I meant that T510 boxes. Bad eyesight ;)
Unfortunately, using the internal IDE is out of question, since the whole
process in that company is used to take that stick after the salestour, go into
the office and plug it into a transfer PC, where some other soft
Hi Jim,
Maybe I can add some tidbits to the “great apps in DOS” saga :=)
I was technical head of “ProLib Software GmbH” at that time. As a Software

Speaking about BBS and CIS:
At that dark medieval times around 1990, CompuServe was the "Master of all

Hi all,
I'm currently facing some users which seem to have a bad BIOS battery and
therefor aren't using the current date.
Those users aren't even noticing that wrong date on their printed invoices of
that day...
Is there a simple way to check from Autoexec/FDAUTO for the year of the date,

You can have date output the current date and save it
Hi Thomas,
There's almost nothing better for good ol' DOS programs than Microsoft's
FoxPro/DOS 2.6 !
And what a coincidence: The latest version was released on 1994-03-10, that's
exactly 30 years ago.
It has a very extensive helpfile with a lot of "firsttime users" information
and samples. I
Funny.

Hi Jim,
Kudos for your articles! Just a small addition to your "Why DOS only has 16
colors" page and the statement "most traditional DOS programs were limited".
FoxPro for DOS (a very famous development system at that time), even had a
setting for BLINK or Enhanced colors.
