FWIW, LFN was an integral part of WordPerfect 5.1 - which predates MS win9x by
quite a few years.
The USPTO's just committing gratuitous fraud. Which is to say, there can be
no excuse for such malfeasance.

How about FAT32? It was defined by M$ and build by M$.
