freedos with grub4dos from any partition and to boot linux from under
freedos with the same grub4dos. The last is what use every day.

I did and did it successfully. Yes, it did hang on the commandx but not
mortally - for a while like some 2 minutes and then continued without

I've once downloaded only programs, not any docs. Well, not is

WinXP and DOS.7.1: it doesn't create fdboot file (at the moment I
can't remember the proper name of it, and not at home now to see it)
on the disk C: - while installing before DOS71 and WinXP. I do
