Yeah, I just wonder if there's one that takes over the
BIOS interface like an XT-CF/IDE card does. Neither the

Hi Pirate,
as far as I remember, it is common for SATA controller
PCI or PCIe cards to include some BIOS, but if that is
not working with DOS for you, even when booting from
one of the SATA disks, Tom's suggestion to use smart
IDE / SATA adapters would be the next best choice.
Of course you will

Not sure that would allow to use the whole capacity of the SATA drive with a
BIOS from 1997.

In pure DOS, such cards will probably not work unless they have their own
boot ROM (BIOS extension) on-board.
I believe SATA RAID cards typically did have their own boot ROM on-board,
to allow RAID volumes to boot an OS. Those would definitely work in DOS as
well.
You don't actually have to use t

Hi,
I have a bunch of SATA mechanical hard drives with perfect health that I've
swapped out for SSDs in various laptops. I installed a 160Gb one with a Silicon
Image 3512a SATALink host controller in my IBM Aptiva E30-2137 (ALi M1531
Aladdin IV chipset). So far it seems to works great with Wind
