Hello Rugxulo,
About the shareware edition: it did the same for me (crashes at exit
with a hellish BEEEP), but again, only if I don't give enough "low
XMS" memory to Doom. Since my Ultimate Doom problem is solved, the
Shareware edition runs fine, too (and quits fine also). You use big

Hi guys,

That leads to the question if Jack's cache works better,
but to be honest, I like the method of using DOS32A a
lot more: It works stable with modern hardware and any
cache size, as far as I understand your ear
Hi Rugxulo,
I understand your "utilitarian" way of thinking, but this is a specific
case for me. There are some pieces of software that I consider "museum
grade" and that I want to keep running it their full legacy glory, as
much as possible. Ultimate Doom is one of them.

Yes, I was also going to suggest that you use a different one (esp.
given how old DOS4G [etc] is).

Hi Eric,
Thanks for your pointers! I didn't think about testing with an
alternative extender.
I tested it now, and the problem is not appearing when I run Ultimate
Doom using DOS32A (ie. the game starts fine, let me kill those nasty
aliens just as usual, and quits fine).
Of course this is not
Hello all,
I'm almost sure nobody cares, but here's a little follow-up on my
Doom/XMS troubles, maybe some future generations will find this somehow
useful.
A few details first, that I should have included in my first message
probably:
- When I run "Ultimate Doom" while RDISK or LBACACHE is

If I have to guess: RDISK, LBACACHE and DOOM may all cause
the A20 to toggle as a side effect of doing
Hi list,
I've run into a small glitch today - I was launching my copy of Doom
Ultimate to slaughter my weekly quota of aliens, and was suprised to see
my computer freeze.
After some investigations, I pin-pointed the problem to this:
If I load any of these TSRs: LBACACHE, RDISK, then Doom eithe
