For anyone, which will have similar problem:
First I must say in addition, that I'm using somewhat old hardware: it's
ABIT BX-133RAID motherboard, which has 2 IDE ports:
- an old UDMA33 interface
- ...and much faster HPT370 (ATA100)
Of course, my HDD (Barracuda 40 GB) is attached to that faster
