BTW, one time I tried to use Wget on QEMU and if failed. So
networking in QEMU isn't very stable (tested with 7.0).

Yes, but one would stil have to install the package that sets up
f-prot. Scripts to do this would not be installed by default.

Oh. Mostly what I'm looking for is graphics art for displaying while
autoexec.bat and config.sys are loading, but if they could be
converted to a gif somehow, they could be useful.

Hi Eric,
I'm sorry about the last e-mail, just clicked the send button without even
write something.
I apreciate your opinion Eric, you know that, the thing is I got excited with
the idea of a new installer. It would be really, really nice/cool/super to
see it done. :-)

Actually, I am writing a more advanced method of managing packages
right now to overcome the limitations of batch.

I'm hoping to have an update.bat in the root directo

I don't know what you mean by ansi logos, but sure.

Hi all,
I think that the new distro idea about a collection of batch files is really
good. It looks similar to portage/gentoo and freebsd/ports way of installing
packages and maybe a it can be a revival for the fdpm project.
I think it will be really good for:

The DIR commands now work. Reboot again.
Kernel still recognizes the partitions. emm386.exe not run.
FDISK did NOT trash my MBR. Bare himem.
Doesn't make much sense. EMM386 is effectively out of the pic

Hello, all:
Back to my other laptop and other problem. I am unable to install
FreeDOS on my 477 MB FAT32 partition. This is a DIFFERENT laptop
entirely. There is an extended partition, and an NTFS partition.
The FAT32 partition is a primary partition (the third, I believe).
I just grabbed a Wi
Ok, I just added edit.exe to my boot floppy! :-)
First, modifying config.sys to:
a:\device=himem.exe
a:\device=emm386.exe noems X=a000-efff memcheck vds
EMM386 reports "no suitable UMB memory block found" :-)
FDISK shows a bunch of garbage after "Do you want to use

Hi, the non-empty lines in my wattcp.cfg are:

Hi Bernd:
I don't believe it is just FDISK. It appears to be FDISK + EMM386,
maybe plus the development kernel. However, until this is
isolated and the cause understood, I do not recommend
using it. There are other tools which do the same thing! :-)

I hope you have the option of using FreeDOS FDISK running under as many
MS components as you can (kernel, shell, himem, emm386). A Win98
bootdisk for example.
Just to be absolutely sure it's
OK. Back to the standard development kernel.
config.sys still has himem.exe and emm386.exe. No
autoexec.bat.
Boot floppy without running FDISK. Reboot Linux. Partition table normal.
Copy it to the floppy this time! :-)
Reboot FreeDOS from floppy.
A:> fdisk

Hello, all:
OK, on my "haunted" HP laptop, I am going to try another test.
I just ran the Linux FDISK...it warns:
"The number of cylinders for this disk is set to 3648.
There is nothing wrong with that, but this is larger than 1024,
and could in certain setups cause problems with:

Hello,
Other than Mark's trash partition. I got another problem of FDISK.
I bought a IDE-to-CompactFlash adapter, then I try to put FreeDOS on
the CF, but I failed.
During making the partition, I found that MS-DOS FDISK can SEE the CF
adapter but FreeDOS can't.
The only way to know the adapter
