I have a co-lo server I've been maintaining for a few years now running IDE
drives on a mostly terrible UPS. A few months ago, when it returned from a
power outage (running 6.2-R) I started noticing the following in my daily
security email:
Checking setuid files and devices:
find:
/var/db/portsn
I spoke too soon I guess: A buddy of mine at the hosting provider took down
the box and did a fsck -y on the var partition, this seems to have cleaned
it up. It looks like the regular fsck -p could not repair it.

Hey all, I'm running 6.2R-p4 and I'm having some terrible problems with
stability on HP-DL360 G4 and G5 hardware.
We use these systems mostly for high volume postfix mail servers, and under
heavy postfix queue load, the server will crash (sometimes within minutes,
sometimes 12-14 hours after bein
I've been getting some weierd log messages, and random reboots under
heavy swap file load on my laptop.
LICQ, and Netscape are notorious for causing this behaviour.
Any info on what the problem is would be appreciated

Same Here, ESS 1878. I don't get any interrupted sound (which I used to
get quite often) but it is a very strange error message.
