I'm running 12.2 and 13.0 on KVM using virtio and zfs. I am not having
disk I/O issues.

I run a test server comparable to my production server. I ALWAYS test my
upgrades on the test server before compiling the same src in production.
IMHO, it would be quite foolish to do otherwise.

o/200 system, and I have had no trouble with SMP. These old
systems are still worth the effort. I also suspect some sort of hardware
problem, as I've had no trouble.
