Hi,
since my upgrade to 8.0-RELEASE my backup solution with duplicity is no
longer working because ncftpput fails.
The error message from ncftp 3.2.2_1: Could not read reply from control
connection -- timed out.

Hi,
This is a general rehash of a problem that I've been having with my
Dell Latitude D830 with an nVidia Quadro NVS 140M internal graphics

code rendered the "nvidia" driver inoperable in 7-STABLE sometime mid
last year. Wi

Hi Rolf,
I am using the "gpt boot" command right after calling "gpart create" which
should combine the add/bootcode.
Things do look right from a "gpart show"

There's already a thread about this last week, which contains the info you need
to set this up.
The only thing I'd warn you about is to ensure you use the DVD not the CD as
the CD doesn't have
all the things you'll need on it.
Regards
Steve

Hi,
I am pretty new to FreeBSD, but experienced in Linux. Currently, I am
running a fresh FreeBSD 8.0 on my netbook. I want to use it as a stable
platform for my sailing computing needs.
But.. I have to use Windows navigation software in conjunction with a GPS

I'm assuming your referring to " FreeBSD 8 GPT install, how?" thread you
originated?
While that thread covers generically installing on GPT, it does not cover this
issue.
Also, even after adjusting a few things -- using gpart instead of gpt to make
partitions and "gpart bootcode" instead of "g

If you are asking whether the root user of the jail can implement their
own firewall, then no that is not possible.
If you are asking whether you can use ipfw along side jails, then yes
you can. The administration of said firewall doesn't change one bit due
to the introduction of a jail.
So, if i
Jails appear to be working differently in 8.0 compared with 7.x (due to
the networking changes in 8 most likely).
Anyway, I've created a jail in 8.0 and given it it's own IPv4 IP
address. Problem is, when I attempt to SSH to this jail IP address, I'm
arriving in the host environment, and not the j

Hi Paul,
I'll understand, but I want to run apache and ssh on both jails using their
standard configs.
(So they listen to every ip address and interface).
From your answer I learn than ipfw has to run on the host machine like:
$IPF 6000 pass tcp from any to $jail1 22,80 in
$IPF 6000 pass tcp
