Nope - has no effect. See another separate post of mine about how
I added another em card, and that works fine.

Just as an addendum to this - in my case ifconfig down/up does not fix
the problem. I need a reboot for the network to come back normally.

I am also seeing hangs on em0 when under heavy load. This is 8-STABLE from
the 17 at around 3pm.
