About this problem, just to update it a bit:
- the 4.6.2. boxes with hw.ata.ata_dma="0" still hang about twice a month
(compared to sometimes more than once a day with DMA on)
- one of these has been cvsup'ed as of 18-Sep-2002, kernel recompiled.
It now identifies itself as "FreeBSD 4
