7/7 still shows old date
stamps on the sym drivers, and the last apparent change to the module
in question (sym_hipd.c) was around 4/26, based on the the FreeBSD
CVS webpage.)

Clearly Sendmail has their work cut out for them in regards to
documentation - it's a mess. (ie the info above should be in the
Sendmail README file, I would think)

rc.conf. I thought this would have
left just the queue runner process going, no? If I telnet to
localhost port 25, I still see the usual banner.
Do I really have to set sendmail_enable to "NONE" so it won't answer
on port 25 at all?

aliases and devices feature at the end of the merging process, which

I'd like to standardize on bash to keep things consistent among my
freebsd logins. (and between freebsd and linux) But not if it will
cause problems in freebsd.

If people want to run it the way they always have, it wouldn't impact
them. Just don't use the new "bind_chroot= YES" parameter in
/etc/rc.conf, or whatever it ended up being called.

AFAIK ReiserFS is a work in progress.
There are some other established journaling FS's out there which
might be candidates, ie the IBM one and one from SGI.
