sorry, i should have been more specific...
there is at least one line (maybe more) in the apache config file that
says...
Options ... Multiviews
remove the multiviews part, leaving the rest, and run
apachectl restart

Any suggestions?
I even re-synced the source and rebuilt named, ndc, named.restart, and
named.reload by hand, and still the same thing.
