Start eg. with 8 1TB hard disks in one raidz2 (da0-da7) replace 1 disk at a time with a 2TB disk using zpool replace tank da Using ZFSv28, do zpool set autoextend=on tank zpool online -e tank da0 zpool online -e tank da1 .. zpool online -e tank da7 and have 11.3 GB available instead of 5.6 GB.

Dear all, just a short update on the issue: I changed SATA setting in BIOS to AHCI and can now boot without problems. Thanks very much for the hint! Interesting thing is that only the DVD-drive is directly attached using SATA: - System Disks are attached using 3ware-controller (mirror, twe) - ZPo
