Yes, I'm using mcd, but it doesn't quite work. Bigger reads (package
file size) break. The same hardware is fine with W*nd*ws NT 4 (dual-boot).

These drivers are for rather old non-standard CD-ROM controllers
most of which only support 1x speeds. :) There are several changes
being made to the kernel API's used by device drivers in -current.

I just purchased a new WD 180GB ATA-100 disk drive for my FreeBSD machine
and am having problems getting the drive working correctly. Originally
I had this drive attached to the onboard IDE controller on my MB
(Asus TUSLC-2) but had problems so I installed the promise ATA100TX2

I was doing some stress testing of a SCSI chain on a 4.6.2 system
with 2 big RAID volumes by just having lots of processes moving lots
of data over the SCSI buss.
The box has fxp network interfaces with polling enabled.
the kernel config has
options HZ=1000.
