I had this very same problem... I'm still not really sure exactly what it was that was causing it, but here is what i did: removed/commented all entries for CPUTYPE, CFLAGS, COPTFLAGS from my make.conf, rebuilt world, rebuilt kernel. after i did that, i could put the cputype back in and reco
