Are there any plans to make Ruby 2.0 (or even 2.1) the default Ruby version
for FreeBSD? Most every Ruby developer and company I know has moved past
1.9, and the 1.9 default in FreeBSD makes it impossible to use the official
pkg sources because any pkg upgrade action wants to replace ruby20 with
ru
eated instead of ruby20, irb20, etc.
I know the Makefile in the port does this providing the default version is
set. Or would it work if I built my own ruby20 package using Poudriere in
an environment where the default version was set?

Stop.
make: stopped in /usr/ports/converters/ruby-iconv
This works with lang/ruby19 but not with lang/ruby20 on FreeBSD 10-CURRENT

I vote for a 1.9 default as well. This is now the default on our servers by
way of /etc/make.conf, and we are using jails to support legacy 1.8.7 apps.
