I could use some help troubleshooting a problem that I am having with

to make it permanent, add to (or edit) one of your bash startup files,
probably /etc/profile for systemwide, or ~/.bashrc for users
I like a bit more info in my prompt, so I use:

even though Mr. Rosenthal finds it arrogant -
its not his list.
Given the volume of messages in questions its probably not the best choice

All of the examples i've seen/googled involve unix<->unix machines.
I'm tracking 5.3-STABLE with pf controlling traffic.
Can anyone point me in a good direction?

I have a machine that multi-boots with separate ata disks for each OS.
I'd like to have FreeBSD (5.1) spin down the other disk to reduce heat

I have a desktop running 5.1+KDE. Building a port (finance/gnucash)

Sorry for the dumb-sounding question - is having multiple package versions installed
in 5.1 going to burn me ?
I (think I) understand the install process but not the consequences. How do all the
versions coexist ?
eg. install another linux base package.
Many thanks

this is all well and good, but according to 'man 8 fsck', there is no

I am wondering if the FreeBSD project is in need of any server hardware.
