this is very new to me-- I am now a Mac OS X user and extremely happy
with it. I am also tinkering with Linux Red Hat for now. I really
would like to know more about FreeBSD. Hardware compatibility and such!

So I got a replacment 200GB HD sent to me. Put it into the system and
fire up the FDISK util in /stand/sysinstall. It warns me that I should
verify the drive information. It presents me with 24321/255/63 and
warns that it should match what the firmware sees. Well, when FreeBSD

I have no problems with FreeBSD and my Belkin 4 port Pro KVM switch. The
system will boot fine regardless of where the switch is positioned. No
configuration changes to the kernel or nuttin.
I have had some problems with switching to another device and back to my
W2k machine and not having my M
igy 2 (EMU10K3 Chipset)

Hello everyone,
I'm running 2 server, one with FreeBSD and one with Linux. Now I want
to synchronize data between the 2 servers, over the internet so using
NFS isn't a solution at all.

I've got an Intel SE7500WV2 in a SR1200 chassis with 2 Xeon 2.4GHz, 2GB
of ECC RAM and 2 Maxtor Maxtor 6E040L0/NAR61590.
The system installs fine, but when booting it afterwards I first get
reports the drive as 387621/16/63. When I attempt to
use those numbers it tells me they are wrong and won't let me do it.
What gives?

Just installed FBSD 5.0 on a system with a 3Com card (xl0). I'm having
trouble with apps such as telnet, ftp, etc resolving domain names. All
the entries in /etc/resolv.conf are okay. I can nslookup names until
the cows come home. What did I miss?
