s it stands now. Earlier I also used to get
firmware crashes (but I not only use WPA2, but also a hidden SSID, which
may complicate matters even more) But these are gone with recent
-CURRENT (and yes, this is 8-CURRENT in this case), I use it without
probs right now.
FWIW, I also had good results wit
ndis one
does. You may need to try around a bit. Also, you may want to search the
website of the card manufacturer to see if they have a more recent
version of the driver or try drivers for various Windows versions.

You already have them. But the libtool does not find them for some
reason. Maybe you could try:
env CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/include -I/usr/local/include" LDFLAGS="-L/usr/lib
-L/usr/local/lib" make
