I booted my HP Pavilion zd8215us and I immediately invoked chkCPUTemperature.
The first temp reported was 52C, which is 125.6F. This leads me to believe
that acpi has an anomaly regarding temperature measurement. The ambient temp
was 71F (21.6C). The machine had been off for over eight hours.

I installed FreeBSD8.0-RELEASE so I could see if it's compatible with my
Netgear WG111T (this is newly supported in 8.0).
Not surprising, uath (the new driver) is not in GENERIC (oopps, yes it is), so
I copied GENERIC to LAPTOP3 and commented out most of the drivers, since I

It failed to link due to symbols like dcons_crom. So I commented dcons_crom
out of my kernel config.

I can't get this printer to work at all. I've been to cups.org, avasys.jp,

I don't have dumpdev defined in my /etc/rc.conf, so it should be using the
default/rc.conf define which is AUTO.

Why is hal failing to build on my machine? I checked pointyhat and it says it
builds fine. I even tried pkg_deinstall -f and then went to sysutils/hal and

I configured all the devices mentioned in the rum man page and rebuilt
the kernel, and rebooted.
I believe it should show up when I invoke ifconfig without args. My
other ethernet drivers do.
What am I missing?

My system had crashed and it caused a directory to los it's dot and dot-dot
entries. This was a directory that was used for iso-codes and everytie I
started X, it would hang.
So I didn't want to format the drive, too extreme. So I de-installed all my

I have enable_webcamd="YES" in rc.conf
If I comment it out, it complains, and in, it complains.
None of these are going into any log file. They do not get reported by a
subsequent invocation of dmesg.

I've added the following to pkgtools.conf to eliminate portsdb and pkgdb
rebuilds:
pkgtools.conf: ENV['PORTS_DBDRIVER'] ||= 'bdb1_hash'

After cvsupping, I do a portsdb -Uu, but I get warnings about duplicate

I'm running i386 FreeBSD 4.11-STABLE and I have installed port xmbmon.
mbmon doesn't detect my hw sensoe, even though it's mentioned in the Readme
in /usr/local/share/doc/xmbmon.
The Readme mentions the P4T-533C, which is amost identical and uses the same
hw monitor chip.

I searched for libc_r and I got pages that don't have that in them. Why? Is
the underscore a problem?
Also, is there anyway to limit hits to a particular language?
