I can confirm your problem for FreeBSD 5.4 amd64-RC3 and I got the same
problem with a Linux 2.6.8 on an ASUS-Laptop.
Unfortunately I've no good solution but I'm fairly sure that the problem is
related to the X.org and not the OS.
