ftp server. I need STABLE vershion of FreeBSD 6.1.
Because earlier I did't used FreeBSD operation system of freeBSD and other

The released iso file marked FreeBSD-6.1 is the stable release.
There have been errata (patches) to apply since its release, but
FreeBSD does not build a new iso for these patches.
So, you can consider the 6.1 iso available from the download page to

I have a strange replication issue since upgrading from the port from
5.0.22 to 5.0.24.
This is all running on FreeBSD 6.1-p3 on two amd64 machines (one single
processor, single core 1GB ram, one dual processor, dual core 6GB ram).
Both running either stock GENERIC or SMP kernel configurations.
Trying to compile and install kde3
on amd64 FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE #0.
kde3 fails a test and then hangs.
cd /usr/ports/x11/kde3
Make runs fine but then:
# Make Install
terminates and hangs with following consol message:

I have previously reported an inability to get my amd Freebsd 6.1 system to
recognize a drive and am wondering if it is because the relevant device node is
not in /dev. having said that I am unsure of what I need to be looking for or
how to create it.
here are the drives I have got:

You can go to bootdisk.org or freedos.org and download an iso image to make
a bootable CD. I think you need to first get your system actually booting
a CD of any OS, then move on to installing FreeBSD.
It may be your BIOS isn't booting the CD or you simply have a CD with a bad
boot image. So
Sounds like your motherboard went bad. You can try flashing the BIOS with
a floppy to see if that brings it back.

This is becoming the project from hell! It started with an upgrade from
5.3. That *seemed* to go well except for the upgrade of ports. When I
went to use portmanager, it went into an infinite loop. Someone on this
list said that was because it was an old version of portmanager
(0.2.0_1) an

If this is a new install, I would blank the hard disk, and try a fresh
install. As the install is running check the debug screen periodically.

After trying out a couple of proprietary IM solutions, I have abandoned
my search in frustration and have been trying out various jabber
implementations. So far I have tested ejabberd & jabberd2. My biggest
issue thus far is that there is no way to archive IM traffic. Neither

I tried to update my new server to the new time zone by running
'tzsetup' and selecting Eastern. However, instead of showing 11:45,
it shows 6:45 - 5 hours later. I even tried to do a 'cp /usr/share/
zoneinfo/EST5EDT /etc/localtime" but it didn't help. What can I do

yourself. However remember to cvsup your ports tree before you start

I just tried to ssh into freebsd server using Putty (pocketputty actually).
I got a connection (sort of) but my Putty device put up the question
"...unknown certificate.do you want to trust it..." or words to that
effect. Due to finger problems on the touchscreen I said NO. OOPs -

choice of icons and apps by editing config.txt. However, yab seems to be
loading up from some other file or is not scanning the config file while
load. When i right click and choose configure it brings up the
