i'm wondering wy i'm hearing that freebsd 5.4 is allready an official release,
but in the freebsd.org is announced as a LEGACY release, so ...
it's a legacy or an official release?, and please explainme what is the meaning
of LEGACY?

Trying to set rules to let a local network only connection to a Samba
server running on my FreeBSD machine. I'm a FreeBSD newbie.
Below is the rules file. The strange thing is this works fine when
logging into the Samba

I have a colo machine running RELENG_5_3 (without serial console access).
Sometimes the machine will not come back up after a reboot.
Since there is no console, I have no idea what/why/how... :-(

I want to install some softwares from FreeBSD Ports collection. But without
configuration of proxy, it can't connect out to fetch the src tar balls, and
compile/install.
I searched the handbook but didn't find any useful info about setting of proxy
for Ports.
Any suggestions?

recently installed the port "cdce" and encountered "cdce0: could not
find data bulk in". there's a patch available fo this,
"patch-if_cdce.c", bu t i have no idea how to apply it.
