As far as I can see both work just fine. The first has the benefit
that it puts your ZFS exports in
always the zfs commands for zfs filesystems, otherwise why else would they
be there? Do it manually and you could get conflicts later down the line

Wondering whats the correct way to share ZFS, /etc/exports or via zfs commands
which alter /etc/zfs/exports?
I see a lot of both on line.

Hello list,
Is it "safe" to start using 9.2 in the svn repos? I have a line like
this in a daily crontab:
svn co svn://svn.us-east.freebsd.org/base/releng/9.1 /usr/src
Can I change that 9.1 to 9.2 now, or should I wait? I aim to follow
9.2-R with security updates.

I have need to install FreeBSD 8.1-RELEASE amd64 to build some packages. My

which seems to be quite an improvement in general. I'm also not that
actively involved in FreeBSD, and I try not to subscribe too many
mailing lists in general. I

Which is your problem as the real solution is being discussed there and
is really looking for more eyes. Search for Jamie's posts in the list

jail(8) via the rc.conf mechanism, I consider this a serious limitation.

Hello,
let's say I want to pass additional options like ip4=inherit to my jails
configured via /etc/rc.conf. How do I get this to work?
Apparently, setting jail_www_flags="-l -U root ip4=inherit" is the wrong
order, because these parameters are expected after -c, which is

Hi,
We have two Linux servers doing LVS/DR load balancing (rewriting MAC
addresses).
Is there a way to do this in FreeBSD, so there won't be need for a Linux
servers here?

Hi folks,
This is *very* weird but it's consistent.
Most of my servers run with jailed services and I access the jails
directly with NAT to a private network where the jails run.
Jails network are just aliases of lo0 liske so:

If you were connecting via a smart switch, you can configure MAC address
filtering on each of the switch ports and then use DHCPd to only assign each
MAC to the right range or static IP, and then use an IP-based firewall to
control traffic from there. If a user

Hello
I use pf on freebsd as packet filter.
I have a wireless area. The users get to the internet using automatic ip
from the dhcp server.
I wish to deny to assign a static ip address by manual.
How can I do that with pf or ipfw or another thing?

Thank you all for your kind help. The problem was apparently, that the HELO

Thanks again, cheers,
