Just recently I've started having a problem with my HP 5N it was printing
fine. Now, whatever I do lpt0 shows "device busy". I've googled reinstalled
apsfilter and put the printer through all the self tests (passed) and verified
there's nothing in the printer's memory. I've rebuilt userland and

My printing stopped working quite suddenly.
Until today I used FBSD-6.3-prerelease (today I updated to 6.3-stable)
on compaq armada 1700 laptop to print on a parallel HP laserjet 2100
printer in text mode and for postscript via apsfilter. All was fine.
i use my laptop to print on my laserjet, a
pt0
/dev/lpt0: Device busy.
With matrix printer I get
# lptest 20 20 > /dev/lpt0
#
but nothing is printed.
If I use the spooling system with laserjet I get
# lpq
waiting for lp to become ready (offline?)

When I type the command:
#lptest > /dev/lpt0
I get the response:
/dev/lpt0: Device busy.
Don't know what to do.
