IIRC, the recommended step to do is do: kldload snd_driver and then do: cat /dev/sndstat to get the correct driver (in my case it is snd_ich). After that you put the driver into loder.conf (in my case: snd_ich_load="YES"). Hope it helps. Regards, OJ _

Hi everyone, wondering if anybody could help me out. I'm running FreeBSD 5.4-release on a Sony Vaio, and just about everything worked right off the bat. However when starting Gnome, i get a message about how it can't open the sound device, and sound just isn't working for me. The sound device list
