I extracted the 865patch and ran it before firing up X (865patch 32768 nocheck) and I am currently typing this in 16 bit color mode at 1024x768. Thanks for all those who emailed me with help. I love the FreeBSD community! ___ freebsd-questions@free

After looking through the log a bit more, the problem is that X is setting my VideoRam to 8M. I have 32M. This seems to be a known problem with this chipset. Below is a link to a thread talking about this. I DID try setting the VideoRam in the device to 32768. The log then does show it is tr
