This is assuming you have another account on another freebsd/linux box with a
significant amount of space. Works great on a live filesystem. I use /, /var,
/tmp, and /usr as examples.
dump -L -0f - /usr | ssh -C [EMAIL PROTECTED] "cat > /usr/home/login/usr.dump"

I know some of you have labeled me a troll. I don't think I am a troll in
pointing out to others who may be interested in FreeBSD not to look to it. I
believe just "liking freebsd" despite it's issues isn't advantageous to the
community.
I've documented the problems with mozilla.

Regarding my earlier email "Do not install FreeBSD as a desktop"
I don't care how long I have been using FreeBSD, or yadda yadda or yadda
when I cvsup ports, update the databse, and install www/firefox and go to a
website I expect firefox's javascript or whatever to work.
Perhaps
I'm a long time proponent of FreeBSD as a server. For a long time I've really
wanted a FreeBSD system as a desktop. So, I decided to install the FreeBSD 6.2
and compile xorg, gnome, mozilla, etc... to give it a whirl.
For anyone reading this, who wants the same thing.
DO NOT DO IT.

Hey group. I'm using the latest Firefox2 (non-linux) and have the latest
diablo-jre15 port installed. I'm finding that the plugin for firefox causes
firefox to freeze consistently. For example, when accessing myspace, as soon as
I click on Myspace's mail link firefox will freeze immediately ever

I'm using FBSD 6.1 and have ndis0 configured. The wireless router I need to
connect to is doing WPA-PSK TKIP encryption. I have installed wpa_supplicant
but when configuring /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf I have to define 32-bit
psk password from wpa_password. But, I see wpa_password isn't included in
I am trying to get a WPC54G (linksys) wireless PCMIA card working in 6.1. I
made the kernel module using ndisgen and loaded it with kldload. kldstat
confirms the module and ndis.ko and if_ndis.ko is loaded along with the WPC54G
driver made from ndisgen (bcmwl5_sys.ko):

OK thanks. I'm also assuming I will have to download the windows WPC54G driver
and convert it using ndisgen. I didnt see the WPC54G v2 card listed in the
hardware compatibility list.

Anyone know of a good HOWTO on setting up networking in 6.1-RELEASE using a
Linksys WPC54G v2 PCMIA card to connect to a wireless linksys router doing
WPA-TKIP encryption?

Everything I need is in FreeBSD 4-STABLE so I see no reason to switch to FBSD 5*
I realize no further advancements are being made in the 4 branch, but my
question is for how long will I be SAFE using FBSD 4* and when is the targeted
date to stop offering security updates that affect 4*?

I used a port about 2 years ago that would connect to
a remote streaming audio server and record all data
into mp3 files. However, I cannot for the life of me
remember it's name or find it, anybody remember this
port?
