I did install linux-sun-jdk1.4.2 under /usr/local
and then did
cd /path/to/matlab/install/sys/java/jre/glnx86
mv jre1.4.2 bkp.jre1.4.2
ln -s /usr/local/linux-sun-jdk1.4.2/jre jre1.4.2
but still have the same /lib/libc.so.6: cannot execute
binary file error and constant crashes.

I recently installed FreeBSD 5.2.1 on Compaq Armada 1700. I have a
pcmcia modem (Psion gold card WAN Global PC Card 56 k+ Fax Combine iT).
1. Is this not a winmodem?
2. How do I make it work? I'm not sure if it is detected or not. I get
the lines
