Well this is just another mail about a problem i think a lot of people

First of all some console applications behave different in cons25 and

Is it possible to use the local X11 Server for remote applications? For
instance via ssh. I have my XWindows started, i log myself in via ssh
on a remote host, and I want to run a graphical application on the

Hello,
Well here is what i want to ask:
I want to mount a smbfs at boot time. Editing /etc/fstab won't do
because filesystems are mounted before network initalisation. The
noauto option doesn't help (it doesn't mount at boottime, neither on
'mount -a' ; by the way why should anyone enter a filesys

Hello,
Well I have apache2+mod_php4 installed. Still my apache server does not
execute php scripts (it just sends them as plain text). After
installing mod_php4 i didn't modify anything in httpd.conf.
Should I? As i can tell the module is loaded. Why is the server not
running the scripts?

ation.
If you still think i should use apache please tell me, because right
now i don't know what to think.

Hello,
I am looking for a lightweight web server with php support to set up on
my FreeBSD system.
It is very likely that the only use for that web server will be
phpMyAdmin so it should be multithreading and all that stuff. I want
something small and very fast (i have a k6-2 500MHz system). If

Hello (again) :)
I am trying to set up gdm (momently I am using xdm), the graphical
configurator throws an error, and simply replacing in /etc/ttys xdm
with gdm doesn't work (throws an error too).
Maybe somebody can help me here.
Thanks

Hello,
How can I make my fat32 logical partitions (inside an extended one)
visible from FreeBSD. At the moment I can mount only the primary
partition (or at least the installer can see only the primary partition
and I have no idea how the logical ones are named)
Thanks (again) :)

Hello,
On FreeBSD 4.7 I recompiled the kernel. Basicly all I did was to remove
devices and options that were regarding hardware I do not have (i.e.
SCSI controllers, tape drives, USB controllers etc.). Now everything
works fine, except some error messages i get when booting. As I have
figured it o
