acer ?? i had this with acer.. remove hdd...acess bios change ahci mode
and try installing again.

have xfce4. From sysinstall i was able to enable and move the mouse.
But as soon as i do a startx it gets frozen(pointer is visible at
center of the screen )

I am trying to access a western digital USB hard disk. It seems to
recognize it , KDE pops up with the autorun actions but if i open the
folder it is empty. the logs show the error

In my case(stuck at bios splash after freebsd install) ,i had to give it to
acer support ,as i risked losing warranty if i opened/dismantled my laptop.
They have diagnosed harddrive to be faulty(the laptop is hardly 15 days old
:-( ). The lappy was running ubuntu and fedora fine.

not sure.This sounds like my issue as well ? After install of bsd on a
laptop with ubuntu ;it does not boot and gets stuck in bios splash . I had
