I don't know. If I look at the previous attempts to use flavors. It seems
hard to keep it backwards compatible. But not all patches of all efforts
are available via the PRs.

Is there a bugzilla issue that tracks the removal of python2 from ports?
I see some activity about this in ports changes now and then and I'm wondering
if there is some way to track the progress and try to help.
