FTGL comes from MESAGL. The ft2build.h is in
/usr/local/include/freetype2/ft2build.h.
Try it with CFLAGS+=-I/usr/local/include/freetype2.

There is a problem with rc.d script on FreeBSD 9.2, status doesn't work,
it requires a procname variable to match process name together with PID.
PID file parameter for daemon is also different (-p):
