How to handle RCs in terms of PORTVERSION and friends?

Right now I find myself in the situation that Wine went into RC mode and the current snapshots are of the form 1.0-rc1, 1.0-rc2 etc. Per the Porters Handbook this means I have prepared an update with PORTVERSION=1.0r1 This works just fine and is higher than the previous releases of the form
