I have a samba3 installation acting as a domain member server, which
is joined to a samba3 PDC on the same subnet.
If I attempt to restart samba with /usr/local/etc/rc.d/samba restart,
I get the following when I attempt to browse it:

I do not see any
pre-deinstall:
target available in bsd.ports.mk Is there a way I can have a
custom action before the main deinstall script or do I have to
reimplement the deinstall: target itself?

Hmm, this is not quite the same. I need to know if I am deinstalling
from a port install or a package install. The install/deinstall
behavior is different.

No, actually it is the same. If you type make deinstall in the port
directory, pkg_delete is called. Look at bsd.port.mk, about line 4300.

ldconfig -m /path/to/libclip.so as root and try again.

I have setup a jabberd2 server to use postgresql as the backend, but
the rc scripts need some polishing. postgresql should be started
before jabberd2 if it is configured, how can I specify that? Currently
postgresql is started after jabberd2, causing the following output
during startup:
