The past dialogue has encouraged me to an idea to discover whether anyone
thinks its implementation could provide a generic solution for any port needing
multiple installation instances. It may be there is another way of achieving
the same goal but here is my two pennywor

How does one specify a non-standard location for installing a port?
For example I want to have multiple instances of www/joomla installed for
multiple virtual hosts. How can I best go about this?
How about upgrades?

Hi
I seem to contimually struggle with how to use pkgdb -F. I really do not
understand how to determine what responses I need to give to the various
prompts provided by pkgdb.
Is there a guide anywhere - if not would someone be kind enough to inform me
and maybe we could add it to the section
running pkgdb -F
I am getting

Stale dependency: gnome-vfs-2.16.3 ->geimdal-0.7.2_2 (security/heimdal
Install stale dependency?
What is the appropriate response?
Yes would result in an attempt to install heimdal which is not practical due to
conflict with krb

Hi
Can anyone tell me if the vulnerabities for mozilla-1.7.13_1.2 are due to be
fixed in the near future?
If not should it not be dropped from the ports tree rather than using up
processing time only to generate build errors when running portupgrade -a?
Thanks

can anyone tell me how to deal with this..
Thanks in advance..
How does one find the source of a missing library?
In this case the error is 'cannot find -lgvc'
Where can I look up to find what I need to install??
thanks

Hi
Sorry to say I find this extract in PORTSUPDATING a bit too terse. I wonder if
there could be some elaboration on the advice given in PORTSUPDATING for those
who do not understand the implications. IMHO it is not very helpful to have an
absense of procedural detail in such a critical file.

I have multiple lines of stale dependencies reported from pkgdb -F all of which
relate to bsdpan-Archive-Tar-1.30 or 1.16 witha report that the package is held.
The lines are
Stale dependency:bsdpan-Archive-Tar-[version] -> [see NOTE below]: -> Ignored
(the package is held; specify -f to force)
