UPDATING
Following what is already done in Qt 5, the Qt 4 ports no longer install
their binaries into ${LOCALBASE}/bin (which is "/usr/local/bin" in most
cases). Additionally, the "-qt4" suffix has been dropped from the file names
of the binaries that

So, what alternatives are there to add controls to Mplayer2?
mplayer2 is mostly dead or at least not actively developed. It has a
fork called mpv with simple OSD-based GUI as well as several projects
building GUI on top.

Clang is needed to compile FreeBSD 10 due to use of the updated libstdc++ in
world.
My workaround was to upgrade FreeBSD 9.2 to Clang 3.3 in the base system
and remove GCC 4.2.1 from base 9.2.

Alternately, I have been substituting devel/gdb for devel/gdb66 in the
devel/anjuta Makefile for years.

Means you need a c++1 capable compiler but not necessary a c++ 11 aware standard
library, in that case if the base compiler is not able to support c++11 clang33
will be used from ports otherwise gcc 4.6+ if you specify it in make.conf.
Problem, if clang from ports is >3.3.
